STAFF TRAINING

The pilot Management/Supervisory Training Academy for managers from large systems and supervisors from small systems will conclude in San Diego on August 13-14.  Graduation will be held on August 14 at the Island Palms Hotel on Shelter Island in San Diego.

The one-day Disability Staff Training course will be held on Thursday, September 11 at the Ontario Airport Marriott hotel.  This is the second session of this specialized training for disability staff of member retirement systems.  It will cover the assembly of a disability file for review and decision.  The Disability Staff Training course is presented annually on the day before the September Benefits Round Table.

The Administrators' Institute for the CEOs of member retirement systems will be held September 24-26 at the North Lake Tahoe Conference Center in King's Beach, California.

The second module of retirement staff training, the Intermediate Course, will be held at the San Jose Wyndham Hotel October 1-3, 2008. 

The third module, the Advanced Course, will be held at the San Jose Wyndham  November 5-7, 2008.

ROUND TABLES

The information exchange and networking round tables for trustees and staff of  California's public retirement systems are scheduled as follows:

The Attorneys  Round Table for retirement system legal counsel will be held at the Ontario Airport Marriott Hotel on Friday, September 12.  The Chair will be David Muir of the Los Angeles County Employees' Retirement Association.  Member retirement systems may register their legal counsel to attend by sending an email to register@calaprs.org.

The Benefits Round Table for the benefit managers and staff of the member systems will be held Friday, September 12, 2008, at the Ontario Airport Marriott.  Yvonne Arellano of Fresno City Retirement Systems will chair the meeting.

The Information Technology Round Table  for the IT managers and staff of member retirement systems will be held on Friday, September 12, 2008, at the Ontario Airport Marriott.  Jan Jordan-Johnson of the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension System will chair the meeting.

The Trustees' Round Table for the board members of member pension systems will be held Friday, October 10, 2008, at the Ontario Airport Marriott.  The chair will be Don Neely of the San Bernardino County Employees' Retirement Association.

The Accountants' Round Table for the accounting managers and staff of member retirement systems will be held Friday, October 10, 2008, at the Ontario Airport Marriott.  The chair will be Lily Cheng of the San Joaquin County Employees' Retirement Association.

The Administrative Assistants' Round Table for the executive and board secretaries, office managers and administrative staff of member retirement systems will be held Friday, October 10, 2008, at the Ontario Airport Marriott.   The chairs will be JoAnne Calhoun and Lavoyne Jackson of the San Diego County Employees' Retirement Association.
